ALASTIN Skincare®, a premier brand within Galderma's portfolio, leads the way with its innovative range of physician-dispensed products. With a focus on clinical excellence, these formulations cater to the unique demands of pre- and post-aesthetic procedure skincare, as well as daily skincare routines.
With an eye on expansion, ALASTIN joined forces with Avex in early 2022 to commence a retainer. By early 2023, their global team reached out to us, seeking support in establishing a presence in Mexico, followed by expansions into the UK, Canada, and eventually Australia – on Shopify Plus.

The Approach
With a trusted partnership already in place, ALASTIN looked to our agency to drive their global expansion on Shopify Plus. Drawing on our proven expertise and unparalleled Shopify proficiency, we spearheaded the Mexico store project, laying the groundwork for even more successful international ventures ahead.
Quick Speed-to-Market
Our primary goal in the ALASTIN internationalization project was to strike a delicate balance between standardization and customizability. We combined our team's technical expertise and strategic know-how with Shopify's versatile out-of-the-box features to deliver tailored experiences for each geographical location.
This strategy ensured a rapid rollout of international stores, empowering the brand to engage with its international customers in meaningful ways that resonate with local preferences.
Non-Custom Shopify Store
The global ALASTIN team aimed to swiftly establish non-custom Shopify stores for their primary markets, including Mexico, Canada, and Australia. Their priority was to create an online storefront without transactional capabilities initially but with the flexibility to enable shoppable features like "Add to Cart" and checkout as needed.
To achieve this, our team integrated a toggle switch within the Shopify admin, allowing the client to seamlessly activate or deactivate certain functionalities. This toggle was designed to offer enhanced control and flexibility, empowering the client to customize their online stores according to evolving needs and preferences.
Content Support
To empower the brand's global team, we designed a Translation Sheet/Content Collection Tool. This resource centralized all relevant English copies from the US store, enabling efficient translation processes. With this tool, their team could seamlessly work from a structured foundation, ensuring accuracy and consistency across translations.
Site Speed
Achieving exceptional site speed across all Alastin Skincare stores was a key priority for our team. By leveraging out-of-the-box (OOTB) theme sections and limiting custom code, we successfully reduced potential speed bottlenecks.
We also equipped the client with an Image Spec Guide, which played a crucial role in maintaining optimal content sizes. This dual approach of streamlined coding and content management ensured that the stores remained fast and responsive.
Looking Ahead
The Avex team remains a vital partner in ALASTIN's eCommerce journey on Shopify, consistently delivering support and innovative solutions. The site redesign project is currently in progress, working towards a more user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing site. In parallel, our conversion rate optimization initiatives are underway, focusing on boosting customer engagement and sales. These ongoing projects highlight our commitment to helping ALASTIN achieve sustained growth and a superior online presence.
