Marchesa is a NYC-based luxury fashion house, most known for designing elegant gowns for celebrities including Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, and Penélope Cruz.
Although Marchesa had a digital presence, the website did not have an e-commerce component. The brand was utilizing WordPress and linking to retailers such as FarFetch.
Our team worked very closely with Marchesa’s CEO and e-commerce managers to plan out what the new DTC experience would look and feel like. The new Shopify Plus experience needed to be elegant, on-brand, and utilize modern e-commerce functionality.

Our process involved rapid prototyping during the creative phase and utilizing tools such as Invision and Sketch. Given the company’s notoriety, it was important that the creative was on-brand and familiar to their customer base.
We wanted to understand what influenced customer’s buying decisions. This allowed Avex to take a customer-first approach and make design decisions that focused on their needs.
The end result was an intuitive user-experience and an elegant design built on the world’s most powerful ecommerce platform, Shopify Plus.
Product pages feature a minimal and elegant user-experience with personalized product recommendations, detailed product photos, and Klarna financing.
We utilized the Shopify Plus platform to display lookbook style collections and call-to-actions for scheduling appointments.
